Helping People Follow Jesus

Naomis

Naomis at Highland are senior adult women who are either widowed or not married. These ladies are the support and prayer backbone of our church. Members of the deacon body each "adopt" a Naomi, as it is their biblical charge to care for the widows.

The Naomis meet once a month (usually every third Tuesday). The dates for the rest of the year are: June 16, July 21, August 18, September 15, October 20, and November 17. The ladies gather in the Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. for food, fellowship, and a short program.

They also enjoy the annual banquet put on by the deacon body every Spring. Senior Adult Coordinator, Lynn Hoffman, and lay volunteer, Marie Holland, coordinate the Naomis' activities, also working hand-in-hand with our deacons who consider it a joy and privilege to serve these ladies. Last year's banquet featured Dr. Charles Lowery, entertainer and minister from Plano and The Brazos Knights, a local barbershop quartet. There were 136 guests in attendance, including 40 Naomis, the deacons, and their families.
